Seti@Home optimized science apps and information | Page Listing | Current and superseded releases
Release History
2.2B is the current release version for all supported platforms - 32 bit Windows and Linux, and 64 bit Linux, currently.
- 0.x - 1.2
initial pre-release applications, Linux only.
- 1.3
Initial public release, Linux first, then Windows. No source optimizations up to now, only compatibility edits.
- 1.41
1.3 plus some hand-coded assembly tweaks by Michael Harrer. This version worked best on Core 2 systems for a long while.
- 2.0
Total redesign, many source-level optimizations by Ben Herndon and Josef W. Segur, with some code from Alex Kan ported from OS X (chirping)
- 2.1
Development/Pre-Release versions
- 2.2
Building on 2.0's function benchmark framework, additional functions were included, existing ones improved. Some accuracy improvements vs. 2.0 as well. This revision finally beat 1.41 on Core 2 systems, especially on the "dreaded" 58.7 WUs.
- 2.3
Development/Pre-Release version, working on improving the user experience - "stuttering" during benchmarks as well as some new functions to use for crunching
- 2.4 (upcoming)
Release 2.4 will bring some Multibeam WU adjustments as well as the 2.3 new features listed above.
- 2.9 (upcoming)
Development/Pre-Release version, will be based on the new 5.20+ codebase, when it's available for all hardware platforms.
- 3.0 (upcoming)
Release version 3.0 will happen when apps based on the new codebase are mature (and quick) enough to replace the 2.4 release ones.
